Tips for better results

  • - Be specific about style, colors, and mood
  • - Include lighting and composition details
  • - Use artistic style references like "photorealistic" or "watercolor"
  • - For image-to-image, upload multiple reference images for better results
  • - Describe how you want to transform all uploaded images
  • - If generation fails, try switching to a different model in the dropdown for different results and fewer restrictions

Nano Banana 2.1 images for a considered poster layout

Begin with the illustration and the space around it. On Ideogram 4, use Nano Banana 2.1 to explore poster artwork, cover imagery and room for typography you will place and proofread later.

Plan where the image ends and the type begins

Describe the main illustration, its visual weight and the quiet areas needed for a title, date or other final copy.

Write a layout-aware prompt

Every request needs text, with up to 20,000 characters available. Explain the illustration, margins, focal point and the areas to leave visually quiet; specify whether the image should contain any lettering.

Use references for visual direction

Add up to 14 JPEG, PNG or WebP files, no larger than 30 MB each. Identify which reference guides the subject, palette or illustration treatment, without assuming it will preserve every design detail.

Choose a canvas for the artwork

Pick Auto or a fixed ratio and choose 1K, 2K or 4K output. JPG and PNG can be downloaded for further layout work; PNG selection alone does not produce a transparent background.

An additional image model in the Ideogram 4 workspace

This page selects Nano Banana 2.1 for image generation and editing. The general image entry keeps its Ideogram default, and Nano Banana 2 remains a separate model option. Use this page when you want to explore a brief with 2.1, without assuming a performance ranking between models.

Nano Banana 2.1 starts with 1K, Auto aspect ratio and JPG in fresh settings. For poster work, define the artwork’s position before submitting. Bring the downloaded image into your design tool to set final type, check margins and prepare the intended output.

Reserve useful negative space

Describe where the title and supporting copy will sit, and ask for a quieter background in those areas. Check the generated image with your actual text rather than judging empty space alone.

Proofread in the finished layout

Generated letters, dates and punctuation can require correction. Add exact copy as editable text during layout, then verify spelling, line breaks and contrast at the intended viewing size.

Set up the illustration before the final typography

Treat the generated artwork as one component of the design and budget each image request accordingly.

Artwork costs by resolution

An image on Ideogram 4 costs 2 credits with Nano Banana 2.1 at 1K, 4 at 2K and 6 at 4K. Reference inputs have no separate charge.

Shape the composition for the page

Try 2:3 for a portrait poster or 1:1 for a square cover. Describe margins explicitly and inspect the result; choosing a ratio does not set document bleed, trim or print specifications.

Keep the lettering editable

Download JPG or PNG, then add titles and details in a layout tool. If the image contains incidental text, review or remove it before finishing the design.

Poster briefs that leave room for final type

The examples ask for artwork without lettering so you can set exact event or publication details afterward.

A botanical workshop poster

Use 2:3 and prompt: “Gouache illustration of fern fronds and terracotta pots forming a loose border along the bottom and sides, warm cream paper texture, upper center kept open for a workshop title, muted green and clay palette, no text.” Check that the leaves do not crowd your intended title block.

A square jazz cover illustration

Choose 1:1 and write: “A simplified indigo trumpet curving through the lower half of a square composition, small amber circles suggesting stage lights, textured screen-print illustration, upper third mostly unmarked cream space, no letters or numbers.” Add the title separately and review its contrast against the artwork.

From artwork brief to a checked layout

Generate the visual component here, then complete the typography in your design workflow.

1

Map the illustration and copy areas

Describe the main image and which zones should stay quiet. Add references if they clarify the artwork style or palette, and state whether you want any text inside the generation.

2

Set the image specifications

Choose the ratio, 1K/2K/4K and JPG/PNG, then check the required credits. Sign in and submit the image request when the composition brief is ready.

3

Place type and inspect the design

Download the completed image, add final text in your editor and check spelling, spacing and crop. Return to My Creations for the generation task if another image revision is needed.

Poster artwork and typography questions

What this model page changes, what image settings mean and where final text review belongs.

How are Nano Banana 2.1 illustration credits calculated?

On Ideogram 4, each 1K illustration uses 2 credits, each 2K illustration uses 4, and each 4K illustration uses 6. There is no additional reference-image charge.

How do I choose an image model for a poster?

This dedicated page opens Nano Banana 2.1; the general image entry retains its Ideogram default. Use the model selector to choose a model for your brief. If you try both, compare the results against the same requirements for visual hierarchy, space for copy and text readability.

Which aspect ratios can I use for artwork?

There are 15 supported canvas choices: auto, 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 1:4, 4:1, 3:4, 4:3, 4:5, 5:4, 1:8, 8:1, 9:16, 16:9 and 21:9. These describe image proportions, not a ready-to-print document setup.

Can I trust generated event dates and headline lettering?

Proofread all generated text and verify the event details separately. For exact wording, reserve room and add editable type in a design tool. Nano Banana 2.1 has no Google Search setting to look up or confirm current event information.

Can I use a style reference or request a transparent PNG?

References accept up to 14 JPEG, PNG or WebP images of up to 30 MB each; explain the style or palette you want to borrow. PNG is an output format choice, not a guarantee of transparency. Inspect the background and prepare any required cutout in your editing workflow.

What happens if an artwork request fails?

A confirmed failed generation is refunded in generation credits. If a response is slow or the status service is temporarily unavailable, the task is not necessarily failed; return to that task to check its outcome.
